Data Processing by Social Networks
We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The specific social networks we use are listed above.
Social networks like Facebook can typically analyze your user behavior extensively when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g., like buttons or ad banners). Visiting our social media profiles triggers various data processing operations relevant to privacy. Specifically:
If you’re logged into your social media account and visit our profile, the social media platform can associate this visit with your user account. Your personal data might also be collected even if you’re not logged in or don’t have an account with the platform. This data collection can occur through cookies stored on your device or by capturing your IP address.
The collected data allows social media operators to create user profiles reflecting your preferences and interests. This enables them to display interest-based advertising both within and outside the social media platform. If you have an account with the respective social network, such interest-based ads can be shown across all devices you’re logged into or have logged into.
Please note that we cannot track all processing activities on social media platforms. Depending on the provider, additional processing operations may be conducted by the social media operators. For details, refer to the terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social media platforms.
Legal Basis
Our social media profiles aim to ensure a comprehensive online presence, which constitutes a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analysis processes initiated by social networks may be based on different legal grounds specified by the social network operators (e.g., consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Controller and Assertion of Rights
When you visit one of our social media profiles (e.g., Facebook), we share responsibility with the platform operator for the data processing triggered during that visit. You can assert your rights (access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and complaint) both against us and the respective social media operator (e.g., Facebook).
Please be aware that despite shared responsibility with social media platform operators, we do not have full control over their data processing activities. Our influence is primarily determined by the corporate policies of each provider.
Storage Duration
Data directly collected by us through our social media presence is deleted from our systems as soon as you request deletion, revoke your consent for storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions—especially retention periods—remain unaffected.
We have no control over the storage duration of your data that social network operators store for their own purposes. For details, please consult the social network operators directly (e.g., in their privacy policies, see links below).
